One of the best reasons to visit Rome, or any part of Italy, is the food. After visiting the Vatican and Trastevere, we spent the next hours of Saturday trying gastronomic delights, first at Open Baladin and then at the restaurant Mino, for traditional and delicious food Trastevere, Roma The weekend started with a visit to the Vatican Museums, wandering through more than a thousand rooms before reaching the Sistine Chapel. If you’ve booked tickets in advance, make sure to use the fast‑track entrance so you don’t get stuck in the queue. After a quick lunch, we headed to St. Peter’s Basilica, the most important church in the Vatican. The cupola and Michelangelo’s Pietà are among its unforgettable highlights. Although the basilica is free to enter, I’d still recommend buying the €7 skip‑the‑line ticket online to avoid queuing for hours. Friday in Rome ended with a stop at Pinsere for a quick pinsa, the traditional roman pizza, before meeting my husband at the station. Later, we visited key sights of Rome starting with the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Venezia, Foro Traiano and ending with the iconic Colosseum. We wrapped up the day with drinks at Bar do’Brasil before heading back to the Aquarius Inn. On the way, I visited more churches in Rome, such as the Chiesa dei Santi Vicenzo e Anastasio a Trevi and the Chiesa della Trinità dei Monti. I must confess that I loved Rome under the city lights when the sun had completely set — those historic buildings and details under the lights add another layer of splendour By the end of my first day in Rome, I still had time to visit two churches: the Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli, famous for Michelangelo’s statue of Moisés, and the Chiesa di Santa Maria ai Monti, an absolutely beautiful church. Dinner had to be pizza, and the most recommended restaurant was Mariuccia — good food, good atmosphere, and good company. The perfect way to end my first day in Rome....
